Eggcellent news from the BC Golf Association

BC Fresh Egg Cups unveiled and BC Fresh Egg Scramble announced

VANCOUVER, BC – The winners of the BC Fresh Egg Cup Secondary School “A”, “AA” and “AAA” Golf Championships will soon hoist the new BC Fresh Egg Cups, unveiled today by the BC Golf Association (BCGA).

The BC Fresh Egg Cups, commissioned by the BCGA, were created by Jon and Tomoki Gomez of Kibo Arts. Each trophy will be presented to the winning school of each division in the BC Fresh Egg Cup competitions this May. The finished product portrays the the significance of the event, the message to be conveyed and the demographic of the players competing while capturing the youthfulness of the event, incorporating the message of the title sponsor and maintaining the traditions of the sport of golf.

“We really appreciate the opportunity to work on a project that is so important to the golfing community,” says Tomoki Gomez. “As artists, we loved creating something unique that will be enjoyed by many in the years to come.”

The BC Fresh Egg Cups will be on display at the BC Golf Museum and Hall of Fame now through May 24, 2009. Following each championship, the trophies will be returned to the museum to be displayed throughout the year.

Following the unveiling of the trophies, the BCGA announced an innovative new platform for the sport of golf by establishing a pioneering new event that will take golf competition in British Columbia in a fresh direction.

Building on the sponsorship with the BC Egg Marketing Board, the BCGA announced the creation of the BC Fresh Egg Scramble.

The inaugural BC Fresh Egg Scramble will run Sunday August 30, 2009 at the beautiful University Golf Course. Five person teams representing clubs throughout Zones 3 and 4 will compete in a handicapped scramble format. The team must include one of the club’s professional staff and the balance of the team may be made up of any combination of amateur member – (men, women, juniors).

More details are available from the BCGA website at www.bcga.org.

“This is a great addition to the BCGA Championship Series,” says Kris Jonasson executive director of the BCGA. This new event will provide a stage for enthusiastic golfers around the province to showcase their talents. With golf now included in the Canada Games, we feel there is no better time to introduce the BC Fresh Egg Scramble.”
