On a day that started out a little wet, 2005 BC Senior Women’s champion, Alison Murdoch of Victoria, B.C. carded a final round 3-over par 75 to win her second BCGA Senior Women’s title at 9-over 225.

Murdoch, a member of Victoria Golf Club, started out the round trailing by four strokes to second round leader, Phyllis Laschuk of Vancouver, B.C. After the first nine holes of play, Murdoch moved within one stroke of Laschuk, after a front nine 37 and Laschuk’s 39.
“I’m really excited and happy about this win today” says an elated Murdoch. “I was striking the ball well and sinking my putts. When I putt well, I win. Putting is so important – it comes and goes and when it comes, it’s the game.”
Murdoch adds this second title to an already long list of accolades that includes Canadian, Irish and British senior women’s titles.
Phyllis Laschuk finished second at 10-over 226, while third place honours went to Elaine Blatchford of Surrey, B.C., who finished at 11-over 227. Jackie Little of Port Alberni, B.C. stands alone in fourth at 12-over 228.
Murdoch, Laschuk, Blatchford and Little will represent British Columbia in the provincial team competition at the Royal Canadian Senior Women’s Championship August 24-27, 2009 at the Osprey Ridge Golf Club in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.
